We built a web application over an existing ERP to allow nurses to place medical equipment orders from anywhere. On top of adding this new feature, we had to keep the software HIPAA compliant.
Our durable medical device retailer client’s current system wasn’t meeting the needs of their customers and hindering sales. Nurses were limited to placing orders from certain on-site locations. On top of that, nurses had little to no visibility when it came to tracking their orders. We gathered user and industry compliance requirements. We made sure all new capabilities were HIPAA compliant and that the new system would work with ICD-10, the most recent version of international medical classifications used on EHRs (electronic health records). We followed SDLC practices and built this application with using agile methodologies with two-week sprint intervals. After implementing core requirements, we performed beta testing and UAT (user acceptance testing). We then added a few client-value features and strengthened security prior to its final release. Our team consisted of a Consulting Manager who preformed as the Lead Developer and Architect, a Full-stack Developer, a UI and Front-end Developer, and a Middleware Developer.
